Scott Urquhart (left) from Zonge Engineering & Research Organization, Inc., a regular participant at SAGE, instructs a small group of SAGE 2007 students in the use of time-domain electromagnetic techniques at a site in the Santo Domingo basin of the Rio Grande rift.

In an impromptu field lecture, Prof. George Jiracek (San Diego State University) explains the interpretation of controlled-source magnetotellurics to students of SAGE 2007 for determining subsurface electrical resistivity structure.

Karen Godfrey of Boston University, with her sports drink beside her, plants geophones for a seismic reflection survey. The survey, which used a Vibroseis source, provided information on depth to various rock units. Data from the survey were merged with other geophysical data and with seismic results from previous years to map the shape of the Santo Domingo basin.

Profs. Larry Braile (Purdue University), foreground, and John Ferguson (University of Texas, Dallas) prepare equipment for a seismic reflection survey in the Santo Domingo basin of the Rio Grande rift.
