From Albuquerque take I-25 north to Santa Fe (take NM 599 for most direct route), then US 84/285 north to Pojoaque. At Pojoaque take the NM 502 exit to Los Alamos.

Climate
Los Alamos (altitude 7,355 feet) has a mild, four-season climate. Summers have moderately warm days and cool nights with afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s and occasionally reaching into the 90s. Afternoon thunderstorms in July and August typically mark the “monsoon” season in northern New Mexico and generally pass as fall approaches with warm days and crisp nights. Winters are typically short with many mild, sunny days with just enough snow to support the local ski area.

Climate and weather conditions can vary across northern New Mexico and can change suddenly. Dress in layers and bring an umbrella, just in case. Our blue skies also mean you’ll need protection from the sun—wear sunscreen and your shades. And with our high altitude and low humidity, be sure to stay well hydrated.

Please avoid
Food and drinks are not allowed in the museum.
Only service animals registered with the US Service Animal and Support Animal (ESA) Registry are allowed in the museum.

Summer in Santa Fe
This is the peak season to visit Santa Fe, whether for world famous cultural activities like the Santa Fe Opera or art markets: Spanish Market in July and Indian Market in August. Take a break from the Santa Fe scene and make a day trip to Los Alamos.

Summer afternoons
Visit Bandelier National Park in the morning for a hike before it gets too hot, and then come up to the Bradbury Science Museum in the afternoon and avoid the chance of getting caught hiking in a thunderstorm.

Avoiding the crowds
Our busiest season is May through August. If you prefer, visit us during the fall and winter when we have fewer visitors. Activity picks up again in March and April with school visits and spring break. The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is also a very bust week for the Museum and generally runs within the first two weeks of October.

Parking
Free parking is located at the museum and in adjacent lots.

WiFi availability
The museum has free WiFi. Login and password information are posted at the welcome desk.

Accessibility
Our facility is wheelchair accessible and we have two wheelchairs available for visitor use on site. Most of our video presentations are captioned and our feature films, Racing Toward Dawn and Mission: Stockpile Stewardship, are closed-captioned and include hearing-assistance systems.
