"The generosity of this incredibly important part of our community has had a deep impact on those who are struggling throughout Northern New Mexico"- Jill Dixon, director of development at the Food Depot

Each year, employees and friends of Los Alamos National Laboratory donate nonperishable food items to be distributed to families around Northern New Mexico to help people facing hunger.

Research from the Santa Fe-based Food Depot suggests that hunger affects one of every six people and one of every four children in New Mexico.

Normally, donations are dropped off at various locations around the Laboratory, and employees also have the opportunity to donate money if they are unable to shop for food.

The Laboratory's partner the Food Depot bring the donated food items to its warehouse in Santa Fe before distributing it to agencies across the region.

"The Food Depot is grateful for the longstanding relationship with the Community Partnerships Office and Los Alamos National Laboratory,” says Jill Dixon, director of development at the Food Depot. “The generosity of this incredibly important part of our community has had a deep impact on those who are struggling throughout Northern New Mexico. Giving the gift of food leaves a lasting impression on all involved."
