Instructions for Speakers
A:
Length of Presentations
All
talks in regular sessions are scheduled for a total of 25 minutes. You should probably think of this as a
20-minute talk allowing 5 minutes for questions.
The
current program is posted in HTML format at
http://www.lanl.gov/RPSD2002/agenda.shtml
We
know that there are a few mistakes in the agenda; we will work to fix
them. Please e-mail us
(rpsd2002@lanl.gov) with corrections as well.
We expect that there may be some minor modifications to this program;
for example, your talk may be moved one or two time slots earlier or later
within the current session. We do not
see any reason, however, why any entire session will not happen during the time
slot in which it is currently scheduled.
C.
Audio / Visual Equipment
For
each session, a standard viewgraph/transparency machine and slide projector
will be provided. You may bring your
slides pre-loaded in a standard round carousel tray. Additionally, an LCD projection system will be available for each
session. We must emphasize that it is
the speaker's responsibility to ensure that your laptop (we will not be
providing laptops) will work with the LCD projection system prior to the start
of the session. You can set your laptop
to a screen resolution of 1024x768 ahead of time for compatibility. You will
not be given any extra time during your assigned presentation time for
equipment problems. The projection
systems will be in place 20-30 minutes prior to each session for the speakers
to setup their laptop appropriately.
Two of the session rooms will require that a wireless microphone to be
worn by the speaker – people will be present to assist with the microphone
system during the sessions.
D.
Student Speakers
If
you are a student and you will be making a presentation at RPSD 2002, make sure
that our student coordinator, Karen Corzine (corzine@lanl.gov) knows. She is preparing a little something extra
for each student speaker.
E.
Speaker's Desk
There
will be a special Speaker's Desk at Registration. Please check in here if you are giving one or more
presentations. We will want to verify
the talks you are giving, list the audio/visual equipment that you require, and
have you fill out an ANS Copyright Form.
We also want to give you a special sticker to wear on your Conference
Badge identifying you as a speaker.
