Releasing emergency information to the media

An initial news release will be made as soon as possible and may be issued either verbally or in written format once information has been verified and approved. The Laboratory will adhere to the standards of other federal agencies and private industry by releasing information within one hour of the event, if at all possible.

Subsequent news releases will be released as additional information becomes available.

Joint Information Center

A Joint Information Center (JIC) may be established during an emergency to serve as a single, multi-agency source of emergency information. Contact information for the JIC will be posted on this website and communicated via news release once activated.
