Culmination of a competitive process

LOS ALAMOS, New Mexico, October 28, 2010—SOC LLC has been awarded a new contract under which it will provide protective force services at the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Los Alamos National Laboratory. The contract is for three years with two one-year extension options and has a value of about $251 million.

SOC LLC, operating as SOC Los Alamos, has provided protective force services for Los Alamos for more than a decade. The company was previously known as Protection Technology Los Alamos. Its current contract runs through December 22, with the new contract to begin the next day.

“Congratulations to the entire SOC Los Alamos management team. The protective forces at Los Alamos have performed admirably over many years, securing our critical national security interests, our property, and our people,” said Associate Director for Security and Safeguards Mike Lansing.

“Security is a vital part of our mission,” said NNSA Los Alamos Site Office Manager Kevin Smith. “This contract is important to the continued security of Los Alamos National Laboratory. We look forward to working with SOC Los Alamos to implement this new agreement.”

The competitive process for selecting a protective force provider began more than 18 months ago and included a formal evaluation of several companies that had responded to a request for proposal from the Laboratory.
