Deputy Director Elizabeth SellersElizabeth (Beth) Sellers joined Los Alamos National Laboratory as deputy director on December 5, 2011.

Sellers comes to the Laboratory with nearly 30 years of management experience working for the U.S. Department of Energy and private industry, leading the integration and improvement of large, complex, and technically diverse environments.

Most recently, Sellers was a senior vice president for AREVA Federal Services in Bethesda, Maryland. There she led program development and execution for the unit of AREVA North America that serves DOE and its subcontractors in all phases of the nuclear fuel cycle.

Before that, Sellers was an Abu Dhabi-based principal with Good Harbor Consulting, a global provider of safety, security, and risk management consulting services to government and private-sector clients.

From 2003 to 2009, Sellers managed DOE’s Idaho Operations Office in Idaho Falls, which oversees Idaho National Laboratory. There she led a rigorous restructuring of the contract management and oversight functions, which, along with other accomplishments, earned Sellers a Meritorious Presidential Rank Award in 2007 for exemplary federal service.

  • Sellers managed NNSA’s Kansas City Site Office from 1999 to 2003, responsible for oversight of the Kansas City Plant.
  • She was director of DOE’s spent nuclear fuel environmental management project in Richland, Washington, from 1995 to 1999.
  • She began her DOE service at the DOE’s Albuquerque Operations Office, where she worked from 1983 to 1995, starting as Defense Programs program manager.
  • Sellers later served as manager of environment, safety, and health for the Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action Project and, finally, as director of the Environmental Restoration Division.
  • She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of New Mexico.
