Byfl:  Compiler-based Application Analysis

Byfl is a productivity tool that helps computational scientists analyze their code for accelerator-friendly and accelerator-unfriendly constructs.  It implements a form of “software performance counter” that measures application characteristics that are not available at the hardware level. To do this, Byfl instruments the code at compile time, adding accumulators to various operations of interest, and these are output during and at the end of program execution.
