Private industry and research institutions can exclusively license technologies from Los Alamos National Laboratory through negotiable commercial license agreements. Under this type of license, the Laboratory grants a licensee the exclusive right to commercialize the intellectual property.
Through an option agreement, the licensee can use the technology for a specific amount of time and have first right of refusal to obtain the license.
A non-exclusive license allows multiple licensees the right to use the intellectual property. We offer this type of license through our streamlined Express Licensing Program. Technologies (both patents and copyrights) available for Express Licensing are pre-selected for favorable licensing terms and offered through an “off-the-shelf” license agreement.
For more information regarding the Licensing Program, please contact LANL commercialization and licensing manager Laura Barber, at (505) 667-9266, or Licensing@lanl.gov.
