Ultra-Low Field Magnetic Resonance Imaging

The P-21 SQUID Team received recognition for their breakthrough development of ultra-low-field Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by getting the cover article of the September issue of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance. The team, recent winners of a Los Alamos Large Team Distinguished Performance Award, were the first to demonstrate the important milestone of achieving MRI images at fields less than the earth's ambient magnetic fields, allowing other diagnostic techniques of the brain such as magnetoencephalography to be fielded in the same apparatus.
