Electric car project

By Ed Vigil

April 30, 2009

Lab's Ham on KRSN this morning

Laboratory postdoc researcher Michael Ham of Physics (P-21) and the Center for Nonlinear Studies (CNLS) is scheduled to talk about the leadership role the national laboratories and scientific community may play in the potential for electric vehicle research and manufacturing in New Mexico.

Ham has started the nonprofit KinAestheticWind. He and other young scientists and engineers from Los Alamos, in collaboration with University of New Mexico, Los Alamos, plan to build rEVolt, an electric powered "low rider" sport truck. The project is meant to excite Northern New Mexico and a younger generation about electric vehicles, said Matthew Ellis of the Venus Transit Authority Radio Show.

The interview is at 8:30 this morning during the Venus Transit Authority Radio Show on KRSN AM 1490. KRSN can be heard online following the links.

Miro Kovacevich and Ellis cohost the show.
