Ethiopian-born geologist Giday WoldeGabriel is a staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), and co-leader and lead geologist of the world-renowned international Middle Awash paleoanthropological research team. He annually takes his skills to Ethiopia’s Afar Rift, where he leads his team to some of the world’s most exciting hominid finds, including the nearly complete skeleton of an ancient lady named “Ardi,” Ardipithecus ramidus.
